LB Agar (Lennox) Powder 250g/bottle

Biologix LB Agar (Lennox, Low-Salt) is a dehydrated culture medium formulated for the cultivation and maintenance of bacteria, particularly Escherichia coli (E. coli) used in molecular biology applications. Its reduced sodium chloride content makes it ideal for experiments that require controlled salt concentrations while providing reliable, reproducible bacterial growth. Supplied as a convenient dry powder, it is easy to prepare and suitable for routine microbiological and research workflows.

Preparation Instructions

1. Dissolve 35 g of powder in 1 L of distilled or deionised water.
2. Heat with stirring until completely dissolved.
3. Dispense into suitable culture vessels.
4. Sterilise by autoclaving at 121°C for 20 minutes before use.

Composition (per litre)

• Tryptone: 10.0 g
• Yeast Extract: 5.0 g
• Sodium Chloride: 5.0 g
• Agar: 15.0 g
• Final pH (25°C): 7.5 ± 0.2

Storage

Store in a cool, dry place away from direct light and reseal the bottle immediately after use. When stored as recommended, the product has a shelf life of 3 years.
